Tonteg
Tonteg is a small village located on the western border of Church Village, approximately 3 miles southeast of Pontypridd and about 5 minutes drive from the nearest junction for the a470. Tonteg is also the site of the ruins of a 12th centre motte and bailey castle, Tomen y Clawdd. The site is still well preserved and is affectionately known by local residents as the “Monkey Tump”. Tonteg is also home to a collection of shops, cafes and pubs as well as Gwauncelyn English speaking primary school and Ysgol Ty Coch SEN School.
